Happy Birthday April!

This weekend we celebrated April's birthday... she's had 33 of them! It was a small celebration, but fun. We had our own "date night" out, then we had a little party with the kids. How about this chocolate applesauce cake- I learned of this from April, and now I'd have to say it's my favorite. But really, I did make it for April. Really.
Singing "Happy Birthday to You"... we sounded interesting.

Blowing out candles... Nate was upset he couldn't blow them out all himself, but he happily partook of the good stuff.

April's presents... no, they're not earings. They are tea holders. April had a tea holder for years (a gift from my sister), and she loved it, but I accidently allowed it to take a ride down the garbage disposal. It wasn't pretty. So, happy birthday April!

Unrelated to the birthday celebrations, I baked this apple pie in prep for the Thanksgiving celebrations. I have to practice since I haven't done very many pies. Looks tasty, eh? Pumpkin pie is next, never done that one.

Hope you had a great birthday, April! Pie looks fabulous! Good luck finding canned pumpkin (if that's what you're using)--apparently there's a shortage. I guess you can never have too much pumpkin in your food storage! :)
